At Beyond Care, we believe community is more than just a place. It’s a feeling of belonging, being included, and having the chance to grow through shared experiences. That’s why our Community Participation and Centre-Based Programs are designed to help NDIS participants explore their interests, connect with others and build confidence in everyday settings.
We offer a wide variety of social and skill-building activities—both out in the community and in our specialised day centres. Whether it’s joining a group BBQ, learning new cooking skills, or relaxing in our sensory room, every program is built around inclusion, independence and fun.
Why social participation matters
Feeling connected to others is a core part of living well. For people with disabilities, it’s not always easy to find inclusive spaces that encourage social interaction and personal growth. That’s where structured programs like ours make a big difference.
Social participation helps people improve their communication, build friendships, and gain the confidence to try new things. It’s also a great way to develop important life skills—from navigating public transport to planning a day out with peers. All of this plays a big role in helping participants work toward their NDIS goals.
Exploring the community together
Our Community Participation service is all about getting out and enjoying the world around us. Every week, our participants take part in a range of group outings that include:
- Trips to the zoo, museums, or cultural events
- Group fitness activities like walking clubs or sports days
- Social BBQs and picnics in local parks
- Bowling, movie nights, and theatre outings
- Public transport practice and travel training
These outings are supported by our friendly and experienced staff, who ensure that every person feels safe, included and supported throughout the activity. We tailor outings to each group’s needs and interests, so no two days look the same.
Day programs that support growth and creativity
For participants who enjoy structure and variety in a familiar space, our Centre-Based Programs offer the perfect mix of routine and discovery. Located in Wentworthville, our newly designed hub includes dedicated spaces for:
- Art and craft projects
- Cooking and kitchen skills
- Music, dance and movement sessions
- A sensory room for calming activities
- A pamper room for self-care and relaxation
- Gaming, puzzles and group entertainment
These programs are great for developing new skills, building independence, and enjoying time with peers in a safe and welcoming environment. We also run regular community outings from the centre, so participants can enjoy the best of both worlds.
Real stories, real impact
One of our participants, Paula, attends a weekly day program where she learns to plan meals and shop for ingredients. On Fridays, she joins her support worker for a day out in the community. Over time, Paula has become more confident using public transport and now regularly meets up with friends on the weekends.
Another participant, Sam, was initially shy and withdrawn. Through regular attendance at the centre’s art sessions and community BBQs, he’s formed strong friendships and found a passion for painting. His artwork now hangs proudly in the common area, and he’s even sold a few pieces at a local market.
These are just two examples of how participation in a supportive environment can make a lasting impact—not only on skill development but also on a person’s sense of self-worth.
What makes Beyond Care different?
We tailor every activity to the individual. Our programs are flexible and shaped around participant interests, cultural backgrounds and comfort levels. We also value continuity, meaning our participants are often supported by the same team members over time—building stronger relationships and consistent support.
Families and carers are kept informed, and we encourage feedback to ensure our programs are evolving to meet each person’s needs. At Beyond Care, it’s not just about keeping participants busy—it’s about creating meaningful, growth-focused experiences.
