Exploring the local neighbourhood can open our eyes to the hidden history all around us — and that’s exactly what happened during a recent Wenty Social Hub outing, where participants went on a heritage walk to discover the historic buildings and landmarks in the community.
For our participants, it felt like a treasure hunt — uncovering the stories behind old buildings, asking questions about the past, and sharing laughs with friends. These types of activities not only spark curiosity but also deepen our connection to the places we call home.
A First for Our New Team Member 💙
The outing was also a special day for one of our newest team members, who was joining her very first Beyond Care community trip.
She was thrilled to see just how excited the participants were, and how much joy such a simple activity could bring. Watching the group laugh, explore and interact with one another reminded her why she joined Beyond Care in the first place — to make a difference and build real, meaningful connections.
And we couldn’t be prouder of her! She managed the group with warmth and professionalism, creating a positive experience for everyone. For her, it was the realisation of a personal dream — confidently leading and supporting a group of participants out in the community.
The Power of Local Adventures 🧭
These local outings offer so much more than just fresh air:
🏘️ Connection to the community and an appreciation for local history
👫 Opportunities to build friendships and practise social interaction
🧠 Stimulating new interests and curiosity
🚌 Learning life skills, like planning outings and using public transport
💬 Encouraging independence and self-advocacy
It’s days like these that highlight the value of inclusive programs, where participants and staff can share experiences, grow together, and celebrate every achievement — big or small.
Join us on our next outing and become part of something special.
